In order to better use the alloy wheel refurbishment equipment, we need to have a certain understanding of the installation method of the hub before use. Let’s talk about it carefully.
Let’s talk about the correct process of wheel hub installation:
1. Check the outer packaging of the hub
Check that the outer packaging is in good condition and check that the product specifications and quantity are consistent with the order.
2. Check the wheel hub
Check the surface for bumps, scratches and uneven paint finish
3. Empty tire test
This step is critical! Mainly check whether the hub will be shock absorber, caliper, hub hole distance, and the center hole is correct.
Ps, why do you want a dummy tire test? After the wheel hub is loaded with tires, there are more or less tire marks. In case of loading problems, the wheeled tires can not be sold twice, and the wheel hub merchants generally do not return the goods. In order to avoid unnecessary trouble, be sure to test the empty tires!
4. Install the valve and install the tire
Key points:
1) When loading the tire, pay attention to the lightness of the tire (the yellow point is the light point of the tire) and the focus of the wheel (the default nozzle position is the hub focus), so that the best dynamic balance can be achieved.
2) Pay attention to protect the wheel rim when loading the tire, avoiding the tire pressure sensor (if any)
Since the original XTS wheel hub comes with a TPMS sensor, it needs to be removed and attached to the new wheel hub. Pay attention to the installation in situ (that is, the sensor on the left front or the new hub on the left front). Otherwise, the TPMS system will report an error and need to be re-adjusted.
Finishing the tires! (Be careful to protect the wheel rim, which is the most vulnerable part of the wheel… Remember!)
5. Do balance, stick lead weight
Key points: The balance weight should be reset to zero. If the dynamic balance data is too large, it needs to be re-fitted (the tire rotates 180 degrees).
PS, the most important part of the dynamic balance weighting link is to weigh the weight to 0 grams (completely balanced), and some stores think it is ok to save weight to 5g/10g. Many times when the wheel hub is replaced, it is found that the vehicle is shaking at high speed because the dynamic balance is not done properly.
6. Install the reducer ring (center collar)
1) The role of the reducer ring: The main positioning function is not carried. The installation of the reducer ring may cause jitter in daily driving.
2) The reducer ring is first installed on the hub, and the hub is then placed on the axle.
3) Before installation, check the axle head of the vehicle for rust. If it is rusted, use sandpaper or WD40 rust remover to clean it and install it.
If it is a custom wheel hub, the center hole of the hub is completely custom-made and does not require a central collar.
If the center hole size of the modified hub is different from the original car, be sure to install the center ring of the corresponding size!
7. Tight wheel mounting
1) Wheel tightening sequence: diagonal tightening
2) The nut/bolt used for hub mounting should be the same as the original car data. The nut/bolt type should be exactly the same as the hub.
3) First use the conventional cross plate to tighten the hand, and finally use the torque wrench to tighten according to the corresponding torque value. (It is not recommended to use a wind gun.) The torque value can be referred to the vehicle manual, generally not less than 110Nm.
8. Steering inspection
After the hub is installed, please turn the steering wheel to the left and right to confirm that the tire does not touch any part of the car body.
Loading inspection results: no problem at all!
